At Hattons Umhlanga, we’re always looking for bicycle brands that give our customers more choice without compromising on quality, value and riding enjoyment. We’re excited to introduce Sensor Bicycles to our range, bringing a selection of bicycles designed for everyone from young first-time riders to experienced adults looking for a capable 29er mountain bike.
Whether you’re buying a child’s first bicycle, upgrading to the next wheel size or looking for your next mountain bike, Sensor has a bicycle for the journey ahead.
One of the things that makes the Sensor range particularly exciting is the progression available for younger riders.
As children grow, finding the right bicycle isn’t simply about buying the biggest bike they can ride. Wheel size and frame fit make a significant difference to comfort, confidence and control.
Sensor’s range gives families the opportunity to move through different bicycle sizes as their young rider develops.
The Sensor kids’ range includes:
12-inch bicycles
Ideal for younger riders taking their first steps into cycling. Sensor’s Luna 12 Balance is designed around a simple balance-bike format to help young riders develop confidence and bicycle control.
16-inch bicycles
The next step for young cyclists who are ready for a pedal bicycle. The Luna 16 features a lightweight steel frame, rigid fork and V-brakes.
20-inch bicycles
For riders who have progressed beyond the smaller children’s bikes, the Luna 20 brings a more traditional geared bicycle setup, including a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain.
24-inch bicycles
The Luna 24 offers a larger platform for growing riders, with an alloy frame, suspension fork, 8-speed drivetrain and disc brakes.
26-inch bicycles
For older or taller children and young riders, Sensor’s Luna 26 range provides a full-size 26-inch platform, with different frame sizes available to help find a better fit.
Sensor’s kids’ bicycles are also available in different colours, giving young riders the opportunity to choose a bike that matches their personality and style.
One of the biggest advantages of having multiple wheel sizes available is that there is a natural progression as your child grows.
Instead of trying to make one bicycle work for every stage, parents can choose an appropriately sized bicycle and move up through the range as their rider develops.
The Sensor range covers:
12″ → 16″ → 20″ → 24″ → 26″ → 29″
That means Sensor isn’t simply a kids’ bicycle brand — it can be part of a rider’s cycling journey from their first balance bike right through to adult mountain biking.
For adult riders, Sensor steps up to its 29-inch mountain bike range.
The Sensor Exert range includes different levels of specification, giving riders more choice depending on their riding requirements and budget.
The Sensor Exert 29 Sport provides a practical entry into 29er mountain biking, while the Sensor Exert 29 Comp steps up to an alloy frame, hydraulic disc brakes and an 8-speed Shimano Essa drivetrain.
For riders wanting more performance, the Sensor Exert 29 Race features an alloy frame, internal cable routing, a 100mm XC32 air fork, Shimano CUES 9-speed drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes.
These bikes are available in Small, Medium and Large frame sizes, allowing riders to select the appropriate frame size based on their height and preferred fit rather than simply choosing a size based on the bicycle’s wheel diameter.
The cycling market in South Africa has a huge variety of riders — from children learning to ride for the first time to weekend mountain bikers exploring local trails.
We believe Sensor fits nicely into that market by offering a broad range of bicycles at different stages of the riding journey.
It’s about having options.
A first bike.
A bigger bike when they grow.
A 26-inch bike when they’re ready for the next step.
And eventually, a 29er mountain bike for bigger adventures.
We’re excited to bring Sensor Bicycles to Hattons Umhlanga as part of our growing bicycle range.
From 12-inch kids’ bikes to 29-inch adult mountain bikes, Sensor gives families more options when choosing their next bicycle.
If you’re unsure which wheel size or frame size is right for you or your child, speak to our team. We’ll help you find a bicycle that is appropriately sized for the rider and suited to how they intend to ride.
